    2017 Chevrolet SS – Whipple 2.9L

    On this installment of Whipple Wednesday, Jesse brought us his 2017 Chevrolet SS to create the perfect American family sedan, injected with a little bit of Aussie spirit! Following the desired Holden HSV GTS setup that we never got stateside, this SS features something the SS’s should’ve come with in America……BOOST!
     
    Pre-existing modifications performed by us:

    • AIRAID air-intake system
    • Stainless Works 1.78″ primary ID catted long-tube headers
    • MSD Performance spark plug wires
    • Design Engineering, Inc. Protect-A-Boot sleeves
    Performed by us:
    • Whipple Superchargers 2.9L Gen-IV W175FF supercharger system (customer supplied)
    • Whipple Superchargers 4″ upper supercharger pulley
    • Siemens Deka Fuel Injectors 63 lb/hr fuel injectors
    • NGK Spark Plugs TR6 spark plugs
     
    With the mechanical work wrapped up by Alex in the shop, Matt strapped her down to the rollers for Vlad to perform a custom calibration via HP Tuners. The results? 592.52whp & 547.68lbft on 93 octane!
    With the added power under the hood, Jesse can fully immerse himself in not only the vicious growl of the LS3 6.2L V8, but also the sweet sweet whine of the Whipple 2.9L W175FF supercharger system, all the while manually shifting all six gears though the Tremec Transmissions TR6060, fully creating an intoxicating experience that Jesse will be sure to enjoy.

    Billy brought us his gorgeous Orange Crush 2019 Chevrolet Camaro SS to have the LT1 Whipple supercharged and taken over the 600whp mark! Modifications performed by us below:
     
    • Whipple Superchargers 2.9L Gen-III W175ax modified to work with LT4 HPFP
    • Gates HD Fleetrunner Micro-V “Green” belt
    • OEM LT4 fuel injectors
    • OEM LT4 high-pressure fuel pump
    • OEM Camaro ZL1 low-pressure fuel pump
    • NGK Spark Plugs LTR6IX-11 spark plugs
     
    With the mechanical work wrapped up in the shop, John strapped her down to the rollers for Vlad to perform a custom calibration via HP Tuners! With 93 octane in the tank, and the Whipple 2.9L delivering ~8 psi, Vlad increased the LT1’s output to a solid 622.00whp & 640.71lbft! The results? 542.47whp & 519.64lbft on 93 octane! Solid results for round one! We’re looking forward to seeing this SS back in for more power soon.

    Sean’s 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS is back in the shop for its most extensive scope of work yet! This round, we’re taking this already 9-second street car, and upgrading the Magnuson Superchargers TVS2300 to the new TVS2650R, rebuilding the LT1 engine with Gwatney Performance Innovation pistons, rods, and CNC ported cylinder heads, Cam Motion custom camshaft, and much more!

  • Krypton Green 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS – Whipple Supercharged

    Krypton Green 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS – Whipple Supercharged

    Al brought us his Krypton Green 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS to have the LT1 put under pressure and have the fuel system upgraded with ZL1/LT4 components!

    Up first in the shop, TJ installed a W175AX 2.9L twin-screw system from Whipple Superchargers, Super Damper from ATI Performance Products, LTR7IX-11 spark plugs from NGK Spark Plugs, topped off with OEM GM LT4 high-pressure fuel pump, OEM GM LT4 fuel injectors, and OEM GM ZL1 low-pressure fuel pump to provide more headroom for future modifications. Then with the mechanical work wrapped in the shop, John strapped her down to the rollers for Vlad to perform a custom calibration via HP Tuners.

    With the Whipple 2.9L delivering ~8.5psi, 93 octane in the tank, and 100% stock exhaust system in place, Vlad increased the LT1’s output to 600.69whp & 615.36lbft — a gain of ~200whp & 200lbft over where these cars normally baseline on our dynos!

  • 2016 Chevrolet SS – Whipple Supercharged

    Devon brought us his 2016 Chevrolet SS to inject a little Australian HSV GTS spirit (i.e., BOOST) into this displaced Holden Commodore VF!

    Up first, John performed pre-work dyno pulls to establish our starting point (baselining at 391.08whp & 391.49lbft), then she went to the shop for Louis to set the LS3 up with a 2.9L W175AX twin-screw unit from Whipple Superchargers connecting nicely to the existing air-intake system from Roto-Fab, LLC, 1.825″ primary OD long-tube headers from Kooks Headers and Exhaust Cerakoted by Detective Coating, TR6 spark plugs from NGK Spark Plugs, spark plug wires from MSD Performance wrapped in Protect-a-Boots from Design Engineering, Inc., dual valve spring & steel retainer set from Total Engine Airflow, rocker arm bronze bushing trunnion upgrade from Smith Brothers Pushrods, 160° thermostat from Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, a Mild catch can setup from Mightymouse Solutions, along with the miscellaneous OEM and aftermarket odds-and-ends to bring it all together.

    With the mechanical work wrapped in the shop, John strapped her down to the rollers for Vlad to perform a custom calibration via HP Tuners. With 93 octane in the tank, and the Whipple 2.9L delivering ~11psi, Vlad increased the boosted LS3’s output to 623.63whp & 579.63lbft through the automatic 6L80E transmission — a gain of 232.55whp & 188.14lbft! And that’s how you make the motherland of ‘Straya proud, mate.
