2019 Honda Civic Type-R
The newest generation of Honda’s Civic Type-R boasts some obtuse styling, something that can be hard for some to handle, but hop in the driver’s seat of one of these and you will find out just how much fun Honda’s latest iteration of the Type-R lineup is to drive. Featuring great performance and practicality, this hot hatch seemed to tick all the boxes for its owner Rueben. With the helical limited-slip differential keeping both front wheels under control, an extremely rigid chassis, joyous 6-speed manual transmission, and Honda’s known reliability completing the whole package, the FK8 CTR’s are considered one of the best-performing cars in the front-wheel-drive market today, consistently receiving positive praise from journalists, owners, and enthusiasts alike. While good enough for most, Ruben wanted to enhance his FK8, so a decision was made to bring us his bone-stock 2019 Honda Civic Type-R to get the K20C1 breathing a bit better and making some more jam! Modifications performed below:With the mechanical work wrapped up by Andrew in the shop, Matt strapped her down to the rollers for Vlad to get the FK8 dialed in via Hondata‘s FlashPro. With the stock turbocharger delivering ~23psi, Vlad increased the K20C1’s output to 333.43whp & 320.60lbft on 93 octane! 2003 Honda S2000 – Turbo
One of the best-executed S2000s around is back on the rollers! This insane 2003 Honda S2000 belongs to longtime friend and customer, Aaron, who has carried out every bit of this build himself. From multiple tuning sessions over the past several years, we’ve seen this car develop step-by-step into what it is today — it’s been quite a cool thing to witness, and an honor to be involved in.
What’s the setup? Forged internal 2.4L F20C with Darton sleeves, ARPfasteners, Supertech valve train, Garrett GTX3076R, TiAL Sport pressure control, Magnus Motorsports intake manifold, custom PTFE surge-tank fuel system featuring Injector Dynamics ID1700X fuel injectors, dual AEM 320lph fuel pumps (surge-tank mounted), Aeromotive Fuel Systems Stealth 340lph in-tank feeder pump, built T56 transmission, 8.8 differential, custom SPEC Clutch twin-disc clutch, all controlled with sensors and Infinity 506 stand-alone engine management system from AEM Performance Electronics, with tons of other details to bring it all together.
This round, with a tank full of E85, Vlad calibrated the setup for the first time at full boost (~25psi at peak tapering to ~18psi by redline), extracting a strong 590.33whp & 471.10lbft! Definitely a ripping-fast power level for an AP1 chassis.

1992 Honda Civic – Sleeved B18C1 Turbo
Jeremi’s insanely-clean 1992 Honda Civic is back up and running with the new Laskey Racing sleeved short block, and ready to twist the rollers! Quick background: Jeremi has owned this car for quite some time, and has worked with National Speed’s Wilmington, NC shop since 2009! Jeremi’s been running on the same stock-sleeve 1.8L B18C1 engine we built for him back then, and in that time, it’s seen multiple iterations of the turbocharger system, various changes in the setup, and retunes along the way.
For the past few years, this car has been putting down ~470whp/350lbft on 93
octane , and with the short block as the only limiting factor, Jeremi decided to pull the trigger on the new engine build, and turn the wick up! With the Richmond, VA shop bringing this round of work to a close, we’re excited to get this gorgeous EG6 back in Jeremi’s hands, so he can enjoy the new setup for another 10+ years!Up next, she’s hitting the rollers to get dialed in by Vlad via Hondata S300. Stay tuned for results!

2006 Honda S2000 – Supercharged
2006 Honda s2000
A customer recently brought us his 2006 Honda S2000 to have it dialed in by Vlad on the dyno. These F20C/F22C engines are already impressive in factory form, but add a little boost into the equation, and they really come alive. National Speed is no stranger to these engines and we were excited to have this great example in our Richmond shop.
The owner left the powertrain in his gorgeous AP2 mostly stock, but equipped it with a KraftWerks Performance Group supercharger system featuring a Rotrex C38-81, and a Skunk2 Racing exhaust system to let the boosted F22C breathe a bit easier.
Calibrating via Hondata FlashPro, Vlad was able to extract 428.20whp & 292.97lbft on 93 octane! Overall, a super well-rounded build, that must be an absolute blast to throw through turns!
