Renaissance Red 2020 Toyota GR Supra – EcuTek Tuned

Not long ago, BMW/Toyota pushed an updated flash to all A90 Supras which locked the ECU from OBDII port tuning. In response, we got to work on finding a solution, and we are now happy to offer in-house ECU unlocking services for A90 Supras!

And after owning his Renaissance Red 2020 Toyota GR Supra for several months, Mark got the itch for more performance, and decided to bring his A90 in for the first round of modifications, and be our first ECU unlock customer!

Up first, John strapped her down for baseline dyno runs, coming in at 344.92whp & 388.35lbft. From there, TJ pulled the ECU for shipping to HQ for Vlad to perform the bench ECU unlock, and then got busy installing the down-pipe from Extreme Turbo Systems connecting to a beautiful titanium exhaust system from Akrapovic Exhaust System, topped off with an upgraded 3-row heat exchanger from FLUIDYNE High Performance to keep the IATs in better check, especially during these hot summer months.

After overnight ECU unlock turnaround and the mechanical work wrapped in the shop, John strapped her back down to the rollers for Vlad to perform a custom dyno calibration via EcuTek Technologies Ltd. Even fighting octane limitations with Wawa 92 octane in the tank, Vlad was still able to increase the B58’s output to 418.62whp & 497.30lbft — a gain of 74.70whp & 108.95lbft! We typically see 440-450whp & 530-540lbft with this combination, so we look forward to retesting once Mark has some better fuel in the tank.

Downshift Blue 2020 Toyota GR Supra – EcuTek Tuned

Kevin brought us his Downshift Blue 2020 Toyota GR Supra to get it sitting right and to get the B58 woken up!

Up first, Matt strapped her down for pre-work dyno pulls to establish our stock baseline, coming in at 337.79whp & 400.56lbft. Then in the shop, to allow the turbocharger to breathe more easily and also free up a bit more of the B58’s exhaust note, Alex installed a down-pipe from Extreme Turbo Systems connecting to the OEM exhaust system, and then to get the A90 handling better and sitting right with the forged HRE Performance Wheels P101 wheels, installed a set of V3 coilovers from KW suspensions.

With the mechanical work wrapped in the shop, Matt strapped her back down to the rollers for Vlad to perform a custom calibration via EcuTek Technologies Ltd. With 93 octane in the tank, and 98° F ambient air temperature in the dyno room, Vlad was able to increase the B58’s output to 444.77whp & 528.79lbft, holding 21psi to redline — a gain of 106.98whp & 128.23lbft over stock! Killer result for this gorgeous A90!

  • 1994 Toyota Supra – Turbo Upgrade

1994 Toyota Supra – Turbo Upgrade

All the way from New York, Chris brought us his Renaissance Red 1994 Toyota Supra for some attention!

Up first in the shop, Louis installed an AEM Performance Electronics Infinity 506 including a 70mm drive-by-wire throttle body & pedal assembly conversion designed by Vlad, AEM IAT, 3.5bar MAP sensor, 150psig oil pressure sensor, 100psig fuel pressure sensor, 3-port electronic boost control solenoid, Bosch 4.2LSU UEGO oxygen sensor, ethanol content sensor to enable Flex Fuel, along with an Infinity integrated 3.5″ touch screen gauge from BTI Gauges for data acquisition as well as 4-position boost control.

From there, he moved on to installing the dual Walbro 450lph in-tank fuel pumps utilizing components from Powerhouse Racing along with some updates to the setup & wiring (for AEM Infinity to control second fuel pump activation), ID1300X fuel injectors from Injector Dynamics, all topped off with a new 6766 turbocharger from Precision Turbo & Engine, fitted with some custom fabrication to the compressor cover outlet.

With the work wrapped in the shop, John strapped her down to the rollers for Vlad to perform a custom Flex Fuel calibration, complete with fuel pressure, MAP sensor, and oil pressure fail safes enabled. With the PTE6766 delivering 18psi and 93 octane in the tank, Vlad increased output to 626.13whp & 547.12lbft — solid pump gas performance! Then, with E85 in the tank, Vlad increased output to 773.11whp & 664.01lbft at 27psi! While there is plenty more in this setup, we reached our torque comfort level for a stock 2JZ-GTE bottom end, so we decided to cap it there.

  • 1994 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo

    1994 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo

Another immaculate JZA80/MKIV Toyota Supra came through the shop for some work! This one in particular, is Jason’s 32,000 mile Renaissance Red 1994 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo. While this car is absolutely pristine top-to-bottom, we discovered that cylinder No. 4 was significantly down on compression due to a leaking exhaust valve, along with a pair of 25-year old original turbochargers which had seen better days. So, Jason took the opportunity to not only correct the issue, but have some fun while we were in there!

Up first, Louis removed the cylinder head for a full cylinder head service & rebuild by Ballos Precision Machine, then reinstalled with a full OEM Toyota top-end reseal along with ARP cylinder head studs, OEM Toyota timing set, OEM Toyota coil pack connectors, installed rebuilt turbochargers & performed the “True TT” from sequential conversion with OEM Toyota components, and then with the maintenance work out of the way, got to installing an Apexi co.,ltd intake system, HKS Fuel Cut Defender, Tanabe USA down-pipe, Extreme Turbo Systems full titanium exhaust system, and an Extreme Turbo Systems front-mount intercooler system with TiAL Sport Q 50mm blow-off valve.

Once Louis wrapped all the work in the shop, Charlie strapped her down for some post-work dyno pulls. Running on the factory untuned ECU, this refreshed & better-breathing 2JZ-GTE put down 358.08whp & 332.95lbft through the automatic transmission! Killer results for this pristine MKIV!

  • 1995 Toyota Supra – MoTeC

    1995 Toyota Supra – MoTeC

Sean’s Super Red 1995 Toyota Supra Turbo is wrapped up, dialed in, and ready to hit the road! Back in the early-2000s, this car was originally built by a legendary Supra shop of the time — this round, we gave some of the early-2000’s period correct aspects of the build a facelift.

Up first, we replaced the touchy quad-disc clutch for a far more streetable OS Giken TC Series twin-disc, installed updated timing components from Powerhouse Racing, refreshed the hydraulic system with OEM Toyota components, installed a MoTeC TCMux to allow for effective traction control calibration (because single-turbo Supra), and addressed an uncontrollable boost creep issue with a new turbocharger manifold from BP Autosports, LLC. (Ceracoted by our friends at Detective Coating), dual MV-S wastegates from TiAL Sport, and custom fabrication necessary for a clean installation.

With all the mechanical work wrapped in the shop, she hit the rollers to get dialed in by Vlad via MoTeC M600! On 93 octane, Vlad capped the boost pressure off at ~18psi, generating 626.25whp & 500.20lbft! For a daily drivable Supra, these numbers are absolutely perfect for pump gas! Stay tuned for race gas numbers to come!
