Vlad Yevtushenko: Performance Calibrator
No matter the quality of hardware that goes into a high-performance build, it’s nothing without a proper calibration, and that’s where Vlad comes into play at National Speed. Vlad joined the National Speed team armed with work experience with Texas big-power speed shops, certifications from EFI University, a Bachelors in Automotive Engineering Technology from Ferris State University, and a ton of industry experience building and tuning high horsepower street performers.
With the specialized know-how, systems, and tools, Vlad ensures that our customer’s vehicles achieve the best performance and efficiency possible. Whether it’s a nasty all motor Chevrolet Camaro SS on HP Tuners, or a big single-turbo Toyota Supra on AEM Infinity, or a bolt-on Subaru WRX STi on COBB Tuning’s AccessPORT, Vlad’s got it under control. Channeling his expertise in making reliable horsepower (and a lot of it), Vlad built his ultimate daily driver, his 1,400whp Quicksilver 1998 Toyota Supra 6-speed.
On the weekends you will find him at one of our great local tracks like Coastal Plains Raceway, Fayetteville Drag Strip, or Rockingham Dragway.
Update: Vlad has finished up the 10 point cage and parachute setup, installed his Tillett B5 seat, and dialed in the suspension just in time to make one of the last local events of the year. Still getting the car dialed in, he managed a new personal best of 8.49@170 right off the trailer. As a reminder 3.0 liter, OEM 6 speed trans and a Garrett GTX4508r.

2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII – 850HP
Who doesn’t love a forward-facing turbocharger on an EVO? Clearly, Dale-John is among that crowd, and brought us his insane widebody 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII to make it happen!
Up first in the shop, Andrew set up the built 4G63 with twin-scroll forward-facing manifold, down-pipe, dump-tubes, and hot-side charge pipe from Sheepey Race featuring a Precision Turbo & Engine 6466 Gen-II, half-sized radiator from Koyorad Cooling Systems, Inc. along with a cooling fan from SPAL Automotive USA, fuel rail from AMS Performance along with 2,150cc fuel injectors from Fuel Injector Clinic, Double Pumper assembly from Buschur Racing, installed the additional sensors & components necessary to enable Flex Fuel, a 5″ BTI Dash from BTI Gauges integrated into the Infinity, a Stage-II transfer case from Jacks Transmissions, along with all the miscellaneous OEM and aftermarket odds and ends to bring it all together.
With the mechanical work wrapped in the shop, Matt strapped her down for Vlad to perform a custom Flex Fuel calibration via AEM Performance Electronics Infinity 506! Starting off with 93 octane in the tank, Vlad increased output to 511.37awhp & 409.54lbft at 26psi. Healthy starting point! Then after a quick drain and refill to E85, Vlad increased output to 710.73awhp & 545.71lbft at 44psi! Absolute blast of a dual-purpose street car that both draw a crowd at a meet, then take fools to Gapplebees in Mexico afterwards.

1994 Toyota Supra – Turbo Upgrade
All the way from New York, Chris brought us his Renaissance Red 1994 Toyota Supra for some attention!
Up first in the shop, Louis installed an AEM Performance Electronics Infinity 506 including a 70mm drive-by-wire throttle body & pedal assembly conversion designed by Vlad, AEM IAT, 3.5bar MAP sensor, 150psig oil pressure sensor, 100psig fuel pressure sensor, 3-port electronic boost control solenoid, Bosch 4.2LSU UEGO oxygen sensor, ethanol content sensor to enable Flex Fuel, along with an Infinity integrated 3.5″ touch screen gauge from BTI Gauges for data acquisition as well as 4-position boost control.
From there, he moved on to installing the dual Walbro 450lph in-tank fuel pumps utilizing components from Powerhouse Racing along with some updates to the setup & wiring (for AEM Infinity to control second fuel pump activation), ID1300X fuel injectors from Injector Dynamics, all topped off with a new 6766 turbocharger from Precision Turbo & Engine, fitted with some custom fabrication to the compressor cover outlet.
With the work wrapped in the shop, John strapped her down to the rollers for Vlad to perform a custom Flex Fuel calibration, complete with fuel pressure, MAP sensor, and oil pressure fail safes enabled. With the PTE6766 delivering 18psi and 93 octane in the tank, Vlad increased output to 626.13whp & 547.12lbft — solid pump gas performance! Then, with E85 in the tank, Vlad increased output to 773.11whp & 664.01lbft at 27psi! While there is plenty more in this setup, we reached our torque comfort level for a stock 2JZ-GTE bottom end, so we decided to cap it there.

2010 Chevrolet Silverado – Supercharged
Allen brought us his 2010 Chevrolet Silverado to have the 5.3L freshened up and put under a little pressure! Up first in the shop, Dom performed an AFM/DOD delete utilizing OEM GM components, installed Stage-1 CNC ported cylinder heads from Total Engine Airflow, custom billet core camshaft from Cam Motion along with a C5R timing chain, valve train from Total Engine Airflow & COMP Cams, oil pump from Melling Performance Parts, 160° thermostat from Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, along with fasteners from ARP.
With the top-end of the engine back together, Dom then moved on to installing the W140AX 2.3L twin-screw system from Whipple Superchargers, 1.875″ primary OD long-tube headers from Stainless Works Cerakoted by Detective Coating connecting to a full exhaust system from Stainless Works, spark-plug wires from MSD Performance paired with Protect-a-Boots from Design Engineering, Inc., topped off with a 450lph in-tank fuel pump from Walbro Fuel Pumps.
With the mechanical work wrapped in the shop, Charlie strapped her down to the rollers for Vlad to perform a custom calibration via HP Tuners. With 93 octane in the tank, Vlad increased the setup’s output to a repeatable 493.12whp & 486.36lbft, with a best run of 502.43whp & 491.94lbft! It goes without saying, Allen is certainly enjoying the new performance!

Dylan Livingston: Performance Technician
With a passion for cars from a young age, Dylan began his career as a technician working in his uncle’s automotive shop just after high school. He learned the trade and honed his skills while working on all makes of vehicles.
