  • Nocturnal Black 2020 Toyota GR Supra – Bolt-ons and Tune

Nocturnal Black 2020 Toyota GR Supra – Bolt-ons and Tune

Michelle brought us her Nocturnal Black 2020 Toyota GR Supra, featuring a wrap from Wide Open Wraps inspired by Brian’s MKIV Supra from The Fast and Furious, to have the wick turned up!

Up first, Matt strapped her down for pre-work dyno pulls to establish our stock baseline, coming in at 334.11whp & 400.30lbft. Then, the ECU was pulled and Vlad went to work performing an in-house bench ECU unlock to allow for calibration. While the car was on the lift, Alex installed a new Extreme Turbo Systems down-pipe connecting to a beautiful dual-muffler exhaust from HKS, and finally, a cold-air intake system from Injen Technology.

With the mechanical work wrapped in the shop and the unlocked ECU back in the car, Matt strapped her back down to the rollers for Vlad to perform a custom calibration via EcuTek Technologies Ltd. With 93 octane in the tank, Vlad was able to increase the B58’s output to 457.97whp & 514.83lbft, holding 23psi to redline — a gain of 123.86whp & 114.53lbft over stock! Amazing results for this gorgeous A90!

  • Tangerine Orange 2013 Subaru WRX – EJ257 Swap

Tangerine Orange 2013 Subaru WRX – EJ257 Swap

One of the cleanest 2013 Subaru WRX’s we’ve seen just left the shop with a new lease on life! With only 200 of these Tangerine Orange editions produced that year, you can say it was definitely worth saving! While the original engine succumbed to rod knock at 115,000 miles, Olivia took this opportunity to revive her WRX with a built engine!

With the old engine out, a new Stage 1 EJ257 short block was ordered from IAG Performance, and the stock EJ255 heads were pulled and refreshed. While the engine was out, Alex installed a WRX STI 11mm oil pump, oil cooler and associated components, AVCS components, oil pan, timing components from Gates, fasteners from ARP, V2 oil pick tube from IAG Performance, Street Series air/oil separator from IAG Performance, down-pipe from Invidia Exhaust, an HDSS clutch setup from Advanced Clutch Technology, and all the miscellaneous OEM and aftermarket components to bring it all together. With the engine back in the car, a GrimmSpeed top-mount intercooler was installed along with a COBB Tuning 3-port electronic boost control solenoid and Alex finished it all off with a short-shift kit from All Wheel Engineering, llc Kartboy.com.

With the mechanical work wrapped in the shop, Matt strapped her down to the rollers for Vlad to perform a custom calibration via COBB Tuning Accessport. With 93 octane in the tank, Vlad was able to increase the EJ257’s output to 314.24awhp & 337.91lbft!

  • 2005 Chevrolet SSR – Camshaft, Headers, and Lowering Springs

2005 Chevrolet SSR – Camshaft, Headers, and Lowering Springs

This 2005 Chevrolet SSR finished in a gorgeous Aqua Blur Metallic came in to have things taken up a notch in the power department!

First up in the shop, John removed the heads to install a custom camshaft from Texas Speed & Performance and bolted them back down with a set of new ARP head bolts. After the heads were back on the engine, John installed a Melling Performance Parts high-volume oil pump and 160° thermostat. Then, a set of headers from Kooks Headers and Exhaust went on, coupled with hi-flow catalytic converters from XForce Performance Exhaust. From there, John installed new spark plug wires from MSD Performance and NGK Spark Plugs TR5IX spark plugs wrapped in Design Engineering, Inc. spark plug wire Protect-A-Boot sleeves. Finally, all four corners were fitted with lowering springs from Belltech Sport Trucks to set the stance just right.

After the mechanical work was done, Matt strapped it down to the dyno and Vlad got to work performing a custom calibration via HP Tuners. With 93 octane in the tank, Vlad was able to squeeze out a solid 388.01whp & 396.96lbft! Some nice upgrades to an already unique and exciting vehicle!

  • 2015 Scion FR-S TRD – Speed by Design Turbo Kit

2015 Scion FR-S TRD – Speed by Design Turbo Kit

To us, the GT86 platform is one of the best driver’s cars on the market for the price point. That said, most who have ever driven one, feel like it’s missing something from the factory: BOOST!

And Tanner – the owner of this 2015 Scion FR-S TRD Release Series 1.0 – is among that group, and decided to address the problem with an extra 100whp! Up first in the shop, Andrew set up the 4U-GSE engine with a complete turbocharger system from Speed By Design LLC, ID1050x fuel injectors from Injector Dynamics, DW65C fuel pump from DeatschWerks, along with the miscellaneous OEM odds-and-ends to bring it together.

With the mechanical work wrapped in the shop, Matt strapped her down to the rollers for Vlad to perform custom calibration via EcuTek Technologies Ltd. With the stock clutch in mind, Vlad went on the conservative side with the calibration, and increased the 4U-GSE’s output to 266.84whp & 234.90lbft on 93 octane! When Tanner gets the itch for 300-320whp on 93 octane and even more on E85, he’s just a clutch upgrade away.

  • Renaissance Red 2020 Toyota GR Supra – EcuTek Tuned

Renaissance Red 2020 Toyota GR Supra – EcuTek Tuned

Not long ago, BMW/Toyota pushed an updated flash to all A90 Supras which locked the ECU from OBDII port tuning. In response, we got to work on finding a solution, and we are now happy to offer in-house ECU unlocking services for A90 Supras!

And after owning his Renaissance Red 2020 Toyota GR Supra for several months, Mark got the itch for more performance, and decided to bring his A90 in for the first round of modifications, and be our first ECU unlock customer!

Up first, John strapped her down for baseline dyno runs, coming in at 344.92whp & 388.35lbft. From there, TJ pulled the ECU for shipping to HQ for Vlad to perform the bench ECU unlock, and then got busy installing the down-pipe from Extreme Turbo Systems connecting to a beautiful titanium exhaust system from Akrapovic Exhaust System, topped off with an upgraded 3-row heat exchanger from FLUIDYNE High Performance to keep the IATs in better check, especially during these hot summer months.

After overnight ECU unlock turnaround and the mechanical work wrapped in the shop, John strapped her back down to the rollers for Vlad to perform a custom dyno calibration via EcuTek Technologies Ltd. Even fighting octane limitations with Wawa 92 octane in the tank, Vlad was still able to increase the B58’s output to 418.62whp & 497.30lbft — a gain of 74.70whp & 108.95lbft! We typically see 440-450whp & 530-540lbft with this combination, so we look forward to retesting once Mark has some better fuel in the tank.

  • 2002 Subaru WRX – EJ207 Swapped

    2002 Subaru WRX – EJ207 Swapped

When it comes to Bugeye WRX power plants, it really is hard to top the EJ207: out-of-the-box 8,000RPM+ redline, semi-closed deck block, AVCS intake camshafts, no TGVs, and in the case of the Version 8, a rumble-eliminating header feeding a twin-scroll IHI VF37 turbocharger good for 300awhp+ — in short, it’s one seriously fun package! And that’s exactly what Blake brought us his 2002 Subaru WRX to have done!

With the engine in-shop from J-Spec Auto Sports Inc., Alex got to work performing the swap including a twin-scroll specific down-pipe from Tomioka Racing, timing components from Subaru and Gates Racing, OEM STi Group N engine mounts, an EXEDY USA clutch & Fidanza Performance 9.5lb aluminum flywheel, necessary wiring modifications to enable AVCS, along with all the miscellaneous OEM Subaru gaskets, seals, fasteners, and components to complete the work.

From there, Matt strapped her down to the rollers for Vlad to perform a custom calibration via EcuFlash (open source). With 93 octane in the tank, Vlad increased the EJ207’s output to 306.99awhp & 309.40lbft, a peak increase of 104.42awhp & 87.36lbft over the baseline of 205.52awhp & 222.04lbft, with gains of over 160awhp in the upper end of the curve! It’s easy to see why the EJ207 is a go-to solution for GDA/GGA chassis WRX owners looking to turn the wick up.

  • Krypton Green 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS – Whipple Supercharged

Krypton Green 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS – Whipple Supercharged

Al brought us his Krypton Green 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS to have the LT1 put under pressure and have the fuel system upgraded with ZL1/LT4 components!

Up first in the shop, TJ installed a W175AX 2.9L twin-screw system from Whipple Superchargers, Super Damper from ATI Performance Products, LTR7IX-11 spark plugs from NGK Spark Plugs, topped off with OEM GM LT4 high-pressure fuel pump, OEM GM LT4 fuel injectors, and OEM GM ZL1 low-pressure fuel pump to provide more headroom for future modifications. Then with the mechanical work wrapped in the shop, John strapped her down to the rollers for Vlad to perform a custom calibration via HP Tuners.

With the Whipple 2.9L delivering ~8.5psi, 93 octane in the tank, and 100% stock exhaust system in place, Vlad increased the LT1’s output to 600.69whp & 615.36lbft — a gain of ~200whp & 200lbft over where these cars normally baseline on our dynos!

  • Orange Fury 2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 – 500whp

    Orange Fury 2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 – 500whp

Around this time last year, Eric brought us his Orange Fury 2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 for the first of a planned series of modifications: a custom dyno calibration, which netted him a ~15whp & 12lbft gain, coming in at 490.75whp & 408.01lbft. And for this step, Eric brought her back in to address exhaust restriction with a set of long-tube headers!

Up first, Alex removed the factory manifolds and installed a set of 1.825″ primary OD long-tube headers from Stainless Works connecting to the factory exhaust system, and topped off the installation by welding in a set of Gen-2 UHO catalytic converters from GSport. From there, Matt strapped her down to the rollers for Vlad to dial the Voodoo 5.2L back in via HP Tuners. The results this round? 510.07whp & 432.03lbft, a gain of 19.32whp & 24.02lbft with very similar conditions to the runs last year!

Pretty solid results considering this car still has a stock intake system in place, and would see an additional 10-15whp with a JLT Performance system. That, paired with an E85 calibration, and this Voodoo would be pushing up into the mid-500s naturally aspirated! Both forced inducted or naturally aspirated, these cars are just fantastic.

  • 2018 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat – 800whp

    2018 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat – 800whp

All the way in from Florida, Samuel brought us his 2018 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat to get her turned up to 800whp!

Up first in the shop, John strapped her down for pre-work dyno runs to establish our starting point, coming in at 643.65whp & 616.15lbft. From there, TJ set the supercharged 6.2L HEMI up with an air-intake system from JLT Performance, 2.75″ upper supercharger pulley & billet idler from Metco Motorsports, a Gates HD Fleetrunner Micro-V “Green” serpentine belt, along with a pinned harmonic balancer for extra assurance, a set of 2.00″ primary diameter long-tube headers from Stainless Works, OEM Dodge Demon fuel injectors, and a 180° thermostat from MotoRad.

With the mechanical work wrapped in the shop, John strapped her back down to the rollers for Vlad to perform a custom calibration via HP Tuners. With 93 octane in the tank, and the IHI 2.4L supercharger delivering 15psi, Vlad increased output to 803.80whp & 751.63lbft — a gain of 160.15whp & 135.48lbft! From there, Samuel picked her up for the long drive home, and has been having a blast back home in Florida!

  • 2018 Toyota 4Runner – Magnuson Supercharged

    2018 Toyota 4Runner – Magnuson Supercharged

While the 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner is a capable and well-rounded vehicle both on and off road, most who have driven one probably land on a similar conclusion: it could use some help in the power department. You know what solves that problem? BOOST!

And that’s exactly what Robert brought us his 2018 Toyota 4Runner to have done! Up first, Matt strapped her down for pre-work dyno pulls to establish our starting point, coming in at 230.40awhp & 245.70lbft. Next, John set the 1GR-FE up with a TVS 1320 supercharger system from Magnuson Superchargers, which as always, looks like it came equipped from the factory.

From there, Matt strapped her back down to the rollers to get the post-work numbers. The result? 311.10awhp & 300.44lbft, a gain of 80.70awhp & 54.74lbft over stock! Needless to say, that’s a difference that’ll definitely show up when Robert hits the skinny pedal.
